Pastor Matthew Brobst

Growing up in nearby Windham Township, Matthew attended Southington Christian Church as a child, was dedicated here, and was taught Sunday school by some faithful members who are still serving at SCC today. As a young man, Matthew joined the Air Force for an adventure (and a job) and moved east to Massachusetts. After serving for several years in the military, he began using his trade as an HVAC/R technician in the pharmaceutical industry. As time progressed, Matthew transitioned to serve in leadership roles. While in New England, Matthew met his wife Leslie, at their local church. God grew their family there and blessed them with five children. In 2020, it became clear that it was time for Matthew to return to Ohio to be near his parents as a support to them in their elder years. Now he lives right across the street from where he grew up.

As a teenager, Matthew began to feel the call of God to serve as a pastor to God’s people. Over years of maturing, pain, growth, confirmation of this call, schooling, mentoring, and serving with small acts of faithfulness, Matthew was brought back to this church and this congregation and called to be their pastor. He has a heart to see God’s people grow spiritually as they hunger for His word and are filled with a love for Jesus and for people.

Besides serving here at SCC, Matthew enjoys working outdoors in the yard on beautiful days, and spending time with his family. Some of his favorite Bible passages are 1 Peter 5:1-7, Matthew 11:25-30, John 15:1-16, and Psalm 34.
